'PROPOSALS FOR ACQUIRED TASTE'

DAVID HAMLIN / RON LAMBERT

October 8 - November 14, 2009

Opening Reception Thursday, October 8th, 2009

Catherine Person Gallery is proud to present ‘Proposals for Acquired Taste’

with Seattle sculptor David Hamlin and multi-media artist Ron Lambert from October 8 to

November 14, 2009. A public reception will be held Oct. 8th from 6-8 pm and the artists will

be in attendance. Both artists are known for their modern sculpture and fresh approach

to process and materials.

Seattle artist David Hamlin has a gift for using industrial and unusual materials in his sculpture,

which include wool felt, kid leather and re-purposed nickel. His work is monochromatic and architectural,

with simple repetitive forms and clean lines. In addition to his fine art, Hamlin has designed furniture,

screens and objects. His designs have been featured in Elle Decor, Metropolis, Interior Design,

Azure and The New York Times. This is Hamlin's premiere at the gallery.

Ron Lambert’s work pairs a refined sense of architecture with minimalist forms from nature.

His work is spare, stripped down to bare essence. This exhibition showcases his 3-D sculpture,

video sculpture and altered Digital prints. Lambert makes every component of his work, notable due to

his wide range of skills including videography, welding and woodwork. Lambert has an MFA in sculpture

from Alfred University, NY and was hired there several years later as an adjunct professor in sculpture.

In between, he lived in Seattle and taught at the Cornish College of the Arts, and participated in shows at

Dorkbot and Soil. Lambert is currently an assistant professor at Watkins College of Art and Design in

Nashville, TN. This is his fourth show at the gallery since 2005 and we're very pleased to have him back.
